According to Hindu mythology:

Mata Vaishno Devi was born as a divine girl named Vaishnavi, destined to uphold righteousness (Dharma).

A demon named Bhairavnath tried to disturb her meditation, and she retreated into the Trikuta Hills.

At last, Mata Vaishno Devi took her true form of Maha Kali and destroyed Bhairavnath.
