Mahagauri Mata – Mantra, Katha, Aarti, Stotra, Kavach
Devi Mahagauri is Worshiped on the Eighth Day of Navratri and is the eighth form of Goddess Durga. Her complexion is completely white, and thus she is revered with the name ‘Maha Gauri’. Devi Gauri is bright, peaceful, and calm and her beauty glows like a gleam of White Pearl. She is represented with four arms and seated on a Vrishabha (bull). She carries a trident in one right hand and keeps the second right hand in Abhaya Mudra. She holds a ‘Damaru’ (a small hand drum) in her left hand and keeps the second left hand in Varada Mudra. Mahagauri is the true Goddess of kindness and endurance. She purifies the soul of her worshipper by destroying his sins. Her worship liberates one from the clutches of the material world and removes all pain and sorrow. She leads one to the path of self-realization.
Mahagauri Ki Katha
It is believed that this manifestation of Goddess Parvati came into existence when she did hard penance to obtain Lord Shiva. Due to so hard penance, her body color turned dark. When Lord Shiva accepted her great devotion, He washed her body with pure Ganga water that made her body completely white, regaining its beauty. She thus got her name ‘Gauri’. She has an extremely fair complexion and is compared with the conch, the moon, and the white flower of Kunda.
Mahagauri 8th Day of Navratri
Ashtami pooja is considered as Maha Pooja during Navratri. During Ashwin Shukla Ashtami, the Mahagauri Poojan is performed which is accomplished with the worship of both Goddesses Gauri and Lord Shiva. Grand worship, donations, and rituals are followed during the Ashtami of Navratri Pooja to delight this deity. A variety of ‘prasad’ (sweets and food) are offered to this Goddess. On this Ashtami Pooja, Kanya Poojan (feeding of little girls) is done to please the Goddesses of Navdurga. Nine little girls are invited to the home of worshippers and are fed a variety of delicious sweet dishes. Devotees pay the best homage to nine little girls considering them nine forms of Navdurga. Observing fast and worshipping Mahagauri Mata on the eighth day of Navratri Pooja is immensely fruitful, especially for unmarried girls and married women. Worshipping her, unmarried girls get the desired husband and married women enjoy a peaceful and happy married life.

वराभीतिकरां त्रिशूल डमरूधरां महागौरी भजेम्॥
पटाम्बर परिधानां मृदुहास्या नानालङ्कार भूषिताम्।
मञ्जीर, हार, केयूर, किङ्किणि, रत्नकुण्डल मण्डिताम्॥
प्रफुल्ल वन्दना पल्लवाधरां कान्त कपोलाम् त्रैलोक्य मोहनम्।
कमनीयां लावण्यां मृणालां चन्दन गन्धलिप्ताम्॥

Mahagauri Ki Aarti
जय महागौरी जगत की माया। जय उमा भवानी जय महामाया॥
हरिद्वार कनखल के पासा। महागौरी तेरा वहा निवास॥
चन्द्रकली और ममता अम्बे। जय शक्ति जय जय माँ जगदम्बे॥
भीमा देवी विमला माता। कौशिक देवी जग विख्यता॥
हिमाचल के घर गौरी रूप तेरा। महाकाली दुर्गा है स्वरूप तेरा॥
सती (सत) हवन कुंड में था जलाया। उसी धुएं ने रूप काली बनाया॥
बना धर्म सिंह जो सवारी में आया। तो शंकर ने त्रिशूल अपना दिखाया॥
तभी माँ ने महागौरी नाम पाया। शरण आनेवाले का संकट मिटाया॥
शनिवार को तेरी पूजा जो करता। माँ बिगड़ा हुआ काम उसका सुधरता॥
भक्त बोलो तो सोच तुम क्या रहे हो। महागौरी माँ तेरी हरदम ही जय हो॥
