Pratham Shailputri ki Katha
According to Hindu Mythology, Goddess Shailaputri in her previous birth was Sati, the daughter of Daksha. Once Daksha performed a big Yajna without inviting Lord Shiva. Sati came to attend the holy function. There she found that her father has invited all the Devtas (deities) but Lord Shiva was left out purposely and she felt it as an insult to her husband. Sati could not bear the thought of her father having insulted her husband, and she self-immolated herself in the fire of Yajna. In another birth, she became the daughter of the Himalaya and got married to Shiva as Hemavati.
